Each image in the Landscape series was created by repeatedly exposing a piece of film to the signals of an increasing number of television channels (i.e., 5 channels, 10, 15, 25). The resulting images become metaphors for, as well as literal examples of, the overload of visual data that comes to us through the media. In looking at the work, the viewer strains to differentiate between, and make sense of, the numerous semi-transparent layers of images and information. This task becomes increasingly difficult with each succeeding piece, reaching a point of visual white-out in the final image.
