This video is from a series of pieces focusing on studio audiences that looks at the conundrum of the viewing audience watching, on their televisions, images of another audience. Taken from several different genre of television programs, these works were made by editing out all of the on-stage action, leaving nothing but the audience reaction. The studio audience becomes a sort of Greek chorus that comments on the main action taking place on the screen, and acts as a kind of emotional guide for the reactions of the audience at home.
This video is 15 minutes long and includes audiences from a Game Show, Church TV, a Concert, a Comedy Show, Oprah, and the Academy Awards.
